In this pictureyou
can see from left to right, the crias right leg, right ear,
left ear and ruptured membrane. The crias nose is facing the
bottom of the picture.
The mother will
rarely clean the cria, but will take a keen interest. First
time mothers may wander off and chew some grass and come back
momentarily. Other mothers in the pasture will come and check
out the new arrival.
Putting the cria on a towel
will help dry it out, particularly if the weather is cool.
Using a small aspirator to clear the nasal passages to assist
breathing.
